David Tayor

David Taylor, was one of the first British veterinary surgeons to specialise in wildlife medicine, and worked with zoos, wildlife parks and circuses around the world. Was born in Rochdale, Lancashire, he studied at the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine in 1956.
Some contributions to Veterinary Medicine:
-He was awarded the first RCVS Fellowship for a wild animal topic, and was recognised as an RCVS specialist in zoo and wildlife medicine, areas to which he made significant contributions.
-He was the first user of the dart gun and was the first vet to trial and adopt the newer immobilising drugs for large animals.
-He was not impressed with the standard of care at the zoo and became determined to do something about it, a determination that eventually led to him co-founding the International Zoo Veterinary Group, an association of vets that treats wild, rare and endangered species around the world.
For all this and more, Taylor was important in promoting awareness and respect for the natural world.
I found him in the TV, in BBC, they made a televicion program based in his autobiography.
He wrote about his experiences in a series of popular books that began with Zoo Vet: World of a Wildlife Vet in 1976 and led to many sequels

He also wrote a number of successful guidebooks on domestic animals, most famously Think Cat about feline psychology.

Why you wanted to be a vet?

Since I was a little girl I love animals, I feel a special passion for them.
As I grow up I felt confused about what I want to do with my life. I think (in) all types of career, in all areas, like gastronomy, pedagogy, medicine, occupational therapy, sociology, marine biology and others. But even though I have all this options, I don't feel confortable with any of this career.
The year before the one I left my school, I realize that my thing was the sciences, I liked the biology, so I taked the science elective.
In my last year of school I research about veterinary medicine and I fell in love with it. I think that is a beautiful career, and help animals, save them, is amazing.
The university was a wonderful experience, I have known many persons, many realities and  every day I was and every day that passes I fall in love over of VM.

I like major clinic, especially horses, but I like me "minor clinic" too. I don't care who I choose, I just wanna be happy do it.

About me

About me.

My name is Francisca Huerta, I'm 18 years-old, I live in Santiago with my family and pets.
I was born in Providencia on January 3th 1996. I live with all my family; Parents, older sister (but just for one year), litlle-sister, 3 dogs and 2 cats. Yes, I'm the middle daughter ;)

I studied since kinder to 6 grade in a School called Alicante, after I transferred to another school (Carmela Carvajal de Prat), in wich I graduated. Then, a year after, I began to study Veterinary Medicine at the University of Chile.

This year I started to do horseback riding, in the club of this University, since then my love for horses has grown. So I hope I will be able to work with horses in the future.
